(DALLAS) – Eugenia “Genie” S. Hansen, of Hemingway & Hansen LLP, was posthumously awarded the first Tom Arnold Lifetime Achievement Award for excellence in intellectual property law. Scott Hemingway, partner of Hemingway & Hansen, accepted the award on her behalf. The Tom Arnold Lifetime Achievement Award was created to honor those who demonstrate excellence in intellectual property law along with exceptional service to the public and the legal profession. The award was established in the name of intellectual property legend Tom Arnold, who established the firm Arnold, White & Durkee and practiced law over an impressive 60-year legal career.
“Genie valued her clients in a way that made her an exceptional lawyer,” said Hemingway. “Her legacy will be hard to match, but we are committed to providing exceptional service to our clients as Genie would expect. Because of Genie’s excellence, we are continuing to maintain the highest standards of representation throughout our firm.”
Hansen received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biochemistry from Texas A&M University in 1977 and 1979, and her JD from the University of Houston in 1984. After moving to Dallas, Hansen worked for two law firms before partnering with Scott to form Hemingway & Hansen in October 2005. She passed away in late October 2012.
“I will always remember and respect Genie’s dedication and passion for work which mimicked that of her personal dedications and passions,” said Hemingway. “For example, she virtually never missed a game Todd or Kaitlyn (her children) played during their high school years and Genie had season tickets for the Rangers and the Aggies. Genie lived and breathed for her family, the Texas Rangers and Aggie football.”
